My Story

My spiritual journey began in my hometown where I attended the Baptist Church beginning at the age of 3. I developed a deep faith and became very active in my church in my teenage and early adult years. It just felt natural to believe in spirit and things you couldn’t see, but could feel. I left my hometown to attend college and received my B.A. degree in Geology with a concentration in chemistry, graduating magna cum laude. I worked in research and development with Block Drug Company. I worked as an Executive Assistant in many capacities, including at J. Aron & Co. in NY on the trading floor. I learned a lot about stress there! I also studied interior design at Sheffield School of Interior Design in NY and had my own design business, “Cameo Interior Design”. I was chosen to do the teaching video tapes for Sheffield (it was revolutionary to do distance learning at that time). I also had my own business, “Executive’s Choice Ltd.” working as an Executive Assistant for high level executives and Presidents at companies such as Planet Access Networks, Cypress Consulting, and the JC Dean Group Ltd. Throughout my life I never lost my faith that you can believe in things you can’t see. My scientific education only magnified my appreciation for the wonders of the Universe. Over 20 years ago a friend gave me a few cassette tapes of something called “Abraham” which focused on information from “Source” being channeled through a woman, Esther Hicks. I immediately resonated with the teachings of Abraham. It didn’t interfere with my religious beliefs either. That’s how I learned about positive thought, energy, and vibration. That brings us to how I ended up studying Reiki. I don’t believe in coincidences, but that there is a desire emanating from you vibrationally, and the Universe is working to connect you with that desire. That’s the “Law of Attraction” (Abraham).

In 2012 I went to get a manicure. It was something I rarely did. While seated in the salon, a man who was waiting for his wife asked me if I was a nurse or in some other kind of healing work. I laughed and said I wasn’t. He said he felt strong healing energy coming from me and asked if I knew what Reiki was. I had never heard of Reiki. He said to look into it and find a teacher because it would come naturally to me. I don’t know why I decided to seek out a teacher, but thankfully I did. Somehow it felt right. I made several calls to Reiki teachers in the area, but only heard back from one. Patty Murphy of Patty’s Hope Haven called me, and I told her I wanted to Experience Reiki. I went for a session, and I felt like I must have never relaxed in my life. I totally relaxed on her Reiki table. Soft music, low light, and a skilled, caring Reiki Master made me feel wonderful! After my session we talked about how I could become a Reiki practitioner. I was excited to share this “gift” with others. I was certified by Patty for Level I and II and was able to volunteer doing Reiki at Pocono Medical Center. Then several years later, I was certified as a Reiki Master. Patty and I now teach Reiki together, complementing each other. I’ve held many “jobs” over the past 5 + decades, but nothing as rewarding as sharing Reiki. My thanks to the man at the salon for starting me on this path, and thank you Patty Murphy for guiding me all along the way.

My Approach

To me Reiki is a sacred calling, and its symbols are sacred too. It is spiritual. It’s not a religion. A Reiki master is carrying the energy of the universe, and as such, it invokes a powerful shift in our mindset and lifestyle.” (Raven Keyes) It is a collaborative union between Reiki practitioner and client. It’s an allowing of pure positive energy to flow between them.

"Being able to listen without judgment, being a pillar of light, and being a powerful vessel for that light to move through is all in a day’s work. You have one foot in the physical and one foot in the non-physical world at the exact same time.” (Tina Zion)

“A Reiki master is carrying the energy of the universe. We are changing physical matter. When we are giving Reiki, all the cells are vibrating at the frequency of divinity.” (Raven Keyes) I feel blessed to be able to help people feel better about themselves, physically and emotionally.

In my healing sessions I use the traditional Usui Reiki technique that has been in practice for 100 years. There is a “room clearing” ritual which I do before the client arrives. I ask the client if there is anything specific they want me to address. When the client is on the Reiki table I pray on behalf of the client, asking that the spirit of Reiki will guide my hands and that the energy will flow freely. I scan the client’s aura to prevent negative energy/illness from entering the body. In scanning, I also can feel any problem areas and I use established “hands on” positions to treat the body and also my intuition to determine where extra attention needs to be given. I will draw sacred symbols over the client’s body to enhance the energy. When the treatment ends, I seal the session. I ask the client for feedback and when they would like to have another session.
